The bible makes multiple references to heaven being arranged and operating like a courtroom. God is a King, and He is seated on His throne. (Psalm 47:8) In ancient times, a king being seated is a posture of completion. When Jesus ascended after His resurrection, the bible says He is now seated at the right hand of the Father, after declaring that “It is accomplished.” (Romans 8:34) That same verse states that “He ever makes intercession for us”. Now tell me, is that not a picture of a defense attorney?
1 John 5:7-8 says that “there are three in heaven that bear witness” on our behalf. Is “bearing witness” battlefield language or courtroom language? Daniel 7:10 says that “the court was seated, and the books were opened”. Is that a picture of a battlefield or a courtroom? Now, I must know what is in those books. The answer is in Psalm 139:16,” You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”
So, God has a book for our lives. He is an architect, and just like an architect here on earth, they do not build the building. Their function is to design it, and hand the designs to the builder. So it is with us, that our lives have a design, but whether or not that design is built will not be up to God. It will be up to us.
The people that God will call us to intercede for are those who are far outside of the original design of their lives. What does “intercede” mean? Instead of the traditional definition, I will use a biblical analogy. In Ezekiel 22:30 says that, “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land...” And this is a picture of how heaven works, with Jesus standing in the gap for us.
To intercede is to seek God about His design. Once we know His dream for a thing, we then speak and declare it here on the earth. We take heaven’s seed and cause it to enter the earth. Enter-seed. Intercede.
God will show you a picture of what he dreams for a person. It might come in the form of a dream or a word of knowledge. It will be confirmed so many times that you won’t be able to make any argument against it. And then your job is to establish it in the earth by speaking, just like Adam did in the garden. Whatever Adam called a thing, that’s what it became. And you will know through wisdom that there are things that God wants to heal them of, like addictions. God does not write addiction into any of our books. And once you get a grasp of what God’s heart and desire and dream is for this person you are praying for, we must approach the King on their behalf and intercede for them, in the manner that is prescribed in the scripture. In the next chapter, we will review the protocols that God instituted for how we go before Him.
